In addition we have a very well structured volunteer program, which welcomes people of all ages, sexes, vocational and educational levels, who wish to be linked to the social impact-actions we take, as part of the core activities of the organization.

Our organization is leading a profound transformation in the country and commitment to stand firm in our actions; which we believe will provide results and positive changes in our Country.

RSI provides evidence-based advice on a range of safety issues, contributing to the development of informed safety policies. It also coordinates a number of national stakeholder bodies and events.

To achieve this, we have a team of leaders and visionaries who every day make possible the transformation we want. Besides these leaders, the support of our allies is essential to ensure the continuity of our actions.

Challenges of Road Safety Initiative - Uganda:

Communication, is the key factor to soloving problems; but communication-culture in our society is still law.

Even writting to institutions or departments requires constant personal follow-up or letters are never repplied.

We consistently strive to achieve our goals, bearing in mind that long-term stratagies for a lasting social change requires decades of effort.

Global Staticitis

Global results show that the highest fatality rates (deaths per 10,000 motor vehicles) worldwide occur in African countries, particularly Ethiopia, Uganda and Malawi. Comparatively; the road death-rate in Great Britain is 2 persons for every 10,000 vehicles per year. This is within acceptable human error; but the rate of 24 in Uganda is too high.

Uganda has one of the worst road safety records in the world.

In Uganda today, accidents are one of the leading causes of deaths, competing with HIV/AIDS and malaria, making Uganda's road network one of the most unsafe in the World.

Hospitals in Uganda are overwhelmed by the number of accident victims especial motorcyclists. Up to 200 victims are believed to be admitted on daily basis in National Hospitals alone.

In Uganda Road Accidents claim about 2.3% of GDP. This is the cost of vehicles, medical bills, loss of income and property.
